The ferry from mainland (Padang Bai) to Gili is very safe, but keep ahold of your luggage as the local busboys will demand a fee for walking your luggage such a short distance. Our main stay was on Gili Trawangan, and we were there for about 10 days, staying at the Scallywags complex.
