After turning off the engine, wait a couple minutes for the oil to seep, then stand the bike up level and oil should be near the middle of the window. P.

10W-50 AmsOil , New product. Amsoil now makes a 10W-50 which meets all the requirements for KTM. I have been running both the 10W-40 and the 20W-50 Amsoil for years and have never had any problems. Be sure to purchase the motorcycle oil as it is different from the automotive oil as it is designed to work with a wet clutch.
May 26, 2008. Oddometer: 71. Location: Fayetteville, AR. Hey Crew, I just bought a 2004 KTM 450 EXC. The first thing I do with used bikes is do a complete maintenance check. Oil, filters, air filter, coolant, grease everything, Valve check, etc.
It is called $$$$. The Dealers and OEM want you to change everything after 30-50 Hours. I have a 04 WR450. Only engine change are the valve adjustments. The bike has the same power as when I purchased it new. The KTM motor is strong. Change the oil often and check the valves. Unless there is a problem. Don't spend the money.
