Even better are what I call floats. Peter Thompson calls it New Interval Training. The idea is that instead of running, e.g., 1200m at steady pace, you run 300m at 5K pace or faster, then "float" 100m in a pseudo recovery that feels like about marathon pace, then "roll" into the next 300, doing them in sets of 3 or even 4.
Usually I run somewhere form 5-10km per run, (so a 5k is on the short side for me) and my usual pace is around to 5.5-6.5 minutes per km. (I had to pick up the pace to get my 5k under 25 minutes, but that speed isn’t the norm for me) cheddanotchedder • 3 yr. ago. Interesting, how often do you run a week 5 k vs 10 k.
